Minara Resources has an opportunity for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer that is capable of engendering confidence in their peers and operational managers while providing clear and supportive leadership to the Information Technology team. Minara Resources is Australia’s largest cobalt producer and a major world producer of nickel. Our Murrin Murrin site in WA’s northern Goldfields is an integrated nickel and cobalt mining and processing operation employing over 1,000 people. The Role The successful person will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining complex information technology systems. This role will provide specialist support and strategic guidance in relation to the usage and future direction of core IT infrastructure services within the Company. You will be responsible for: Designing, planning, and architecting complex IT systems, considering the organisation's needs, growth, and scalability requirements Overseeing the deployment and configuration of hardware and software infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking components, and cloud services Ensuring the seamless integration of various systems, applications, and services to support business processes and objectives Monitoring system performance and resource utilisation and planning for capacity upgrades or optimisations to meet evolving business demands Implementing and maintaining security measures, including encryption, access controls, and security policies, to protect the organisation's data and infrastructure Implementing automation and orchestration tools to streamline system provisioning, configuration, and management tasks Providing technical leadership and guidance to the other engineers and IT staff, assisting with problem-solving and project execution About You This role would suit a well-rounded professional who combines technical expertise, leadership skills, and a customer-oriented approach, that will contribute significantly to the success of the organisation by designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and secure systems that support the business's goals and objectives. You will also have: A tertiary qualification in computer science, information technology or related discipline A Microsoft MCSE Certification An in-depth knowledge of network protocols, routing, firewall configurations, and network security Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud for hybrid or fully cloud-based solutions Expertise in VMware virtualization technologies Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible) for streamlining tasks and configuration management An understanding of database management systems, including SQL and Oracle Understanding of cybersecurity principles, including encryption, access controls, and threat detection and mitigation Expertise in storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, and object storage solutions What We Offer We offer a diverse range of opportunities across our multi-pit mining operations through to our complex and technically challenging hydrometallurgical process plant.
