About this part of our organisation: Our Zinc and Copper Assets in Australia include multiple & geographically dispersed operations, including underground and open pit mines, processing plants and port facilities. Additionally we have operations across Asia, both North and South American continents and Europe meaning there is scope for you to grow your career. Mount Isa is home to the majority of our assets in Australia and this role is either based residentially in Mount Isa with a 5|2 and 4|3 day roster or FIFO on an 8|6 roster from either Brisbane, Townsville or Cairns. Mount Isa is one of the better facilitated mining towns around the country. With a local community of around 20,000 residents there are multiple choices of schools, supermarkets, and activities. From arts and culture to a thriving sporting community and more, it is the central hub for the surrounding area housing key government services for the region and hosting events such as the largest rodeo in the southern hemisphere. About your potential new position: Your primary purpose will be to work with your team to ensure technical designs and notes align to the planned schedule and all development and drill & blast designs are optimised to maximise productivity and reduce dilution. To deliver on that purpose some of your responsibilities will be: Promote and visibly display safety behaviours. Lead, coach, develop, train, mentor and work closely with your team. Ensure alignment of design to plans. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, tracking progress to plan and providing feedback. Bring practical understanding to the theoretical plans through your experience and working closely with the operations superintendents and their teams. Ensuring compliance to standards and regulations. What we expect about you: You are appropriately qualified (mining engineer, civil engineer or other suitable geoscience) Several years of experience in underground metalliferous mining so as to be able impart knowledge and experience to your team. Broad range of experience with and emphasis on drill & blast and mine design. Previous team leadership will be highly regarded. Our main software is Deswik, however experience in similar systems such as Surpac, Vulcan, or Datamine etc will still be viewed favourably. What’s in it for you?
