Job Expectations We have an exciting opportunity at nbn, as the Transport Network Design Engineer reporting to Manager Network Engineering Delivery. A bit about your role The Network Design Engineer is a position within SEO and reports to the Manager Network Engineering Delivery. The role is part of a Delivery Team within nbn's System Engineering and Operations (SEO) division. Each Delivery Team develops new nbn network capabilities to enable nbn business and operational objectives. In the context of these responsibilities the Transport Network Design Engineer is a key contributor within the Delivery Team for network capability designs. This includes detailed configuration specifications, guides, alarm plans, planning rules and Technology Community of Practice (TCOP) participation. The Transport Network Design Engineer develops and maintains strong relationships with other stakeholders including Architects (responsible for the technical scope of the solution), Manager Network Engineering Delivery (responsible for providing technical leadership to the team) and Iteration Manager (responsible for Agile delivery practices). You are also responsible for developing high quality production network configurations and associated deliverables, Development & System Integration Test to implement, enhance and augment nbn's production network. A bit about you The successful candidate must have strong experience in design, configuration and testing of Transport network technologies and platforms in a carrier environment. In addition, routing and switching experience with Cisco IOS-XR software is preferred. Demonstrated in-depth understanding of end-to-end telecommunication network solutions and services and expertise in DWDM and Routing-Switching technologies, protocols, and associated element management platforms. Strong experience working with DWDM network systems and transmission protocols, optical and fibre test and measurement platform. Good understanding of transmission network architectures; understanding of nbn transmission network and IT support tools. The successful candidate is an individual who has experience with development of new telecommunication transmission network capabilities and is a subject matter expert of DWDM systems including Network Elements and Transport EMS. Experience in detailed solution design of new telecommunication network capabilities and lifecycle upgrades and In-depth knowledge of transmission network configuration, testing and procedures involved are preferred.
