Our NSW Government client are hiring for a highly capable Senior Data Modeller/Engineer. This role plays a key role in understanding organisational data and transforming it into business value to meet business needs. The Senior Data Modeller/Engineer will provide technical leadership in driving sound design and development best practices and is responsible to create and maintain physical data models, data definitions and data mappings that underpin the Data Platform and its associated BI Analytics and Reporting toolset. Furthermore, the role will define and maintain the structure, quality, accuracy and accessibility of the organisation's data. Role Title: Senior Data Modeller/Engineer Contract Length: 12 month initial stint Payrate: $1,100 - $1,200 Super p.d. Location: Sydney CBD/WFH Hybrid Role Requirements: Responsible for the definition, development and maintaining of data analytics solutions, including data visualisations Responsible for the definition, development, testing and deployment solutions to multiple environments using Data Vault methodologies; along with the creation and maintaining of technical documentation for these solutions Review and analyse systems to ensure adequate performance and maintenance, ensuring that data pipelines and data stores are efficient, organised and reliable Work collaboratively with data owners and business units to define and validate report requirements, develop models, procedures, and protocols for reporting in line with organisational Guidelines and Frameworks (Architecture and Data Governance) Conduct analysis required to support business requirements, data profiling and analysis, data mapping, compile the results into business matrix and requirement documents. Conduct analysis of user requirements to design functional specifications for front-end applications and provide proactive improvement solutions that will assist the business in meeting their objectives. Identify, develop and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models, data mappings and transformations, data definitions, data quality, reports and dashboards. Working with Enterprise architecture on the alignment with Enterprise Data Models. Develop and maintain the Data Vault Data and layers. Undertaking the custodian role of the data models that make up those layers. Assist with the establishment and on-going maintenance of security controls, knowledge management, education and awareness, continuous improvement, and risk management within the business. Qualifications: Degree in Information Technology, Data Science, Data Management or Software Engineer and/or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications. Data Vault 2.0 certification Experience & Skills: Extensive experience with data architecture, data modelling, data warehouse design and data lake concepts and practices including data structure, data operation, data management and governance Exposure working in a Microsoft Azure Data Platform environment or equivalent environment Practical experience with Sparx EA or an equivalent modelling and design tool Proven knowledge and experience with Star Schema definition Strong knowledge of metadata management for data modelling Practical experience with translating business requirements into data solutions and physical data modes aligned to conceptual and logical reference data models Practical experience defining data models in collaboration with Business Analysts, Data Architects and stakeholders Working knowledge of Data Vault automation tools; Vaultspeed Data Vault automation desirable. Ability to think and act in an innovative and strategic manner within contemporary ICT frameworks Ability to accept responsibilities and accountabilities and be focused on delivering outcomes to meet the wider team objectives Excellent written and verbal skills in order to prepare documentation and socialise the outcomes with relevant areas of the business including senior management Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills including the ability to liaise effectively with a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds Strong organisational skills in order to manage and implement large, complex and varying workloads and initiatives delivering continuous business improvement Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. Proficient skills in Power BI reporting. Candidates must be based in the Greater Sydney Area and must possess existing full working rights - Permanent Resident or Citizen of Australia.
