Wood is currently searching for a talented Senior Consultant / Engineer - Carbon Advisory to support the Carbon Advisory team combining carbon emissions and policy consultancy with a strong technical engineering emphasis. The Senior Consultant/ Engineer will be responsible for the execution of proposals, studies and projects and provision of advisory services to our clients. Supporting business winning and leading proposals to secure new work Managing small teams of consultants and engineers or other technical staff on studies, setting clear technical direction and ensuring timely issue of deliverables Completing work to a high standard and with little to no supervision, using Wood and Client methods, standards, and data in line with requirements Disseminating knowledge and expertise to team members and providing oversight and technical direction for their study / project work Supporting clients understand and quantify their current scope 1, 2 and 3 greenhouse gas emissions Performing 'cradle-to-gate', 'cradle-to-grave' & 'cradle-to-afterlife' life cycle assessments and modeling Screening decarbonisation opportunities for supply and demand side reduced carbon intensity solutions across the development life cycle from conceptual design to decommissioning At a strategic level, work with clients to develop a systematic framework for the management of decarbonisation including defining overarching strategies, plans & detailed roadmaps with key milestones, journey enablers, timeframes, drivers and identifying on-route threats, risks, and uncertainties Performing assessments and advising clients on transitional opportunities and risks, including policy drivers and incentives Evaluating and advising on offsetting and crediting mechanisms including carbon pricing and providing third party emissions verification services in the energy and mining sectors Assessing the resiliency of client's assets and projects for climate change impacts Ensuring compliance with all regulatory and environmental commitments including the safeguard mechanism Prepare regulatory reports and information for the applicable government departments in accordance with required time frames Engage with sub-contractors, regulatory agencies, and industry partners, to address environmental concerns and build positive relationships Representing the Carbon Advisory team in technical presentations to external and internal customers Raising awareness of the business environment, market and on-going innovation in technology and research in climate-related subjects and issues Developing tools and methods to improve the efficiency and quality of work performed by the team Liaising with and supporting the Business Manager in tracking study/ project activities Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Process Engineering, Engineering Science, or a technical environmental/ Sustainable Development-related subject Approximately 5 to 10 years' experience in energy/mining sector A thorough understanding of the international policy and economic frameworks driving climate change agendas A good understanding of carbon emissions quantification, decarbonization techniques, circular carbon economy, energy transition Strong analytical skills and can systematically break a complex task into more manageable parts and identify the critical components of a problem A confident communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills Demonstrable high-quality report writing and presentation skills Good organisational and project management skills Keen to learn and to share learnings with others Desirable: Demonstrated ability to lead business development and project teams Demonstrated proficiency in international best practices in energy and carbon efficiency Demonstrable background in decarbonisation studies and/or life cycle assessments Has experience in assisting clients to map energy and fuel usage and associated carbon equivalent emissions Has experience in assisting clients to identify and screen emissions reduction opportunities Chartered to an internationally recognised Professional body (or working towards) Good negotiation skills Second language Wood encourages Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to apply.
