The Packaging Engineer is responsible for the global alignment, management, and development of design for secondary and tertiary packaging materials for products produced or launched at the CSL Bern site, mainly liquids in vials. As a member of the global packaging engineering team, supports global packaging initiatives. locations with a focus on Products manufactured at the CSL Bern site and regional CMOs. In collaboration with Value Stream Packaging, Quality assurance, Product Development, Product Life Cycle Management and Research & Development, the Packaging Engineer develops and optimizes Packaging Components and coordinates all necessary tasks to fulfill the GMP standards according to Standard operating procedures (SOP) and sustainability guidelines. Main responsibilities and accountabilities: Planning and carrying out packaging development projects for the timely market launch of new products / packaging. Interdisciplinary collaboration with the marketing and sales departments (worldwide), Regulatory Affairs (worldwide), Engineering, Packaging Design & Artwork, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, Master Data Management and Global Logistics New development, optimization, and standardization of secondary and tertiary packaging, ensuring end to end process performance, regulatory and patient requirements, delivering cost efficient solutions and sustainability. Support projects under new combination products regulatory. Developing packaging materials with external suppliers and coordinating external suppliers Creation of technical drawings, packaging specifications, production plans, entries (blank parts lists), packaging instructions, stacking plans and test reports, if necessary, in collaboration with, for example, Quality and Packaging Operations. Creation of print templates including different barcode types and syntaxes Preparing, carrying out and documenting machine tests Collaboration with engineering and packaging operations Technical collaboration in the development or optimization of testing methods for secondary packaging Assessment and technical opinion on pharmaceutical-technical Complaints (PTCs) regarding packaging Management / collaboration of lean Management projects Background education and past experiences Bachelor's degree, MBA a plus. 5-10 years of experience within the packaging design or related fields. Pharmaceutical experience preferred. Combination Product experience preferred. Track record of development project leadership and/or participation. Global environment experience preferred. Executing standard processes across a global organization.
