Wood is seeking an expression of interest from a Principal Process Engineer / Consultant to join our Minerals & Metals business in a pivotal role. Based in Melbourne, you will work in partnership with Perth and Brisbane offices to support of our global clientele delivering projects in 2024 and beyond. Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager and working collaboratively in multi-discipline teams across the project life cycle (Concept, FEED, Detailed Design), your role will be contributing to technical delivery of engineering excellence through the execution of assigned scopes of work and providing Process engineering expertise to the business. Your dual focus on both relationships and technical delivery will be essential. Anticipating client needs beyond the immediate scope, you will drive technical excellence and assurance on the Process engineering portion, while working in close partnership with other Wood offices and the client to add value to their project portfolios. Developing innovative solutions to complex process and technical problems for a wide range of commodities. Working across a range of engineering projects at any phase including: - concept identification, selection and definition, FEED, detailed design/execute, commissioning and start-up, as-building, and closeout. Managing and executing the delivery of best practice process plant designs and associated services in designated studies, projects, and consulting services. Providing technical guidance and advice to other functional departments and the wider organisation as required. Setting clear technical direction for any assigned project reports. Ensuring process designs meet required safety standards and actively participate in HAZOP studies and design reviews. Proactively assist in business development by identifying business opportunities, developing new and building on existing client relationships, participating in client meetings, and preparing and reviewing proposals. Regularly review technical capability of the process group team, particularly with respect to area of expertise, and advise development opportunities. Ideally you will be a Principal Process Engineer (or Consultant) with 20 years mining industry experience (Operations / Consulting) working in a similar client facing role. Suitably qualified in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering from a recognised institution, you will have: Extensive experience working across one (or more) of the following commodities: Lithium, Nickel, Cobalt, Copper, Gold, Rare Earths. In-depth technical knowledge of process plant design and operation Extensive experience with metallurgical test work and pilot plant campaigns for either mineral processing or hydrometallurgical projects Ability to manage risk during the design process consistent with technical and commercial requirements. Excellent analytical, literacy and numerical skills Experience with process simulation software such as METSIM and/or SysCAD would be highly regarded.
