The overarching objective of the Network Engineer - IP is to ensure the smooth operation of the various Superloop IP networks, in order to provide maximum performance and availability to all customers. The Network Engineer - IP role is responsible for building, supporting, and maintaining all network devices and services within Superloop's IP networks, with focus on the global IP Transit network. What will you do? Own and/or assist the operations of Superloop's various national and global IP Networks Liaise with customers, suppliers and provide resolution for IP network faults from the Superloop NOC. Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve network hardware and software faults by engaging with vendor Technical Assistance Center (TAC), completing lab fault replication and writing hardware / software fault documentation. Design and manage various IP network architectures, including capacity planning and network optimisation. Support any IP network automation tools. Document and maintain low-level design documents (LLDDs), high-level design documents (HLDDs), concept of operations documents (ConOps) and network diagrams. Manage various IP networks' software lifecycle including QA testing and upgrades. Manage national and global hardware sparing for various IP networks. Complete network migrations / decomissions. Manage supplier vendor support contracts Ensure effective controls, process and contingency plans are in place by completing network risk assessments and maintaining process documents. Manage internal relationships with Network Operators, Provisioning Engineers and Pre-Sales teams. The ideal candidate will have: Degree in Telecommunications or related discipline, or equivalent qualification. Minimum 3 years' experience in a network design/engineering, or Level 2 or above network support/escalation role. Excellent knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6 networks. Excellent understanding of MPLS/IP routing and forwarding. Good understanding of various Layer 2 technologies (Ethernet, VPWS, VPLS). Minimum 3 years' experience operating a Cisco network. Ability to work without supervision and in a team environment. Strong customer service ethic. Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills. Sound project management skills. It would be advantageous if you have the following: At least 3 years' experience working in a service provider environment. Experience in operating a Juniper or Arista network. Strong documentation skills. Knowledge of Python and/or Shell scripting. CCNP or equivalent experience will be highly regarded.
