The Opportunity: Under the direction of the IWP Combat Systems Engineering Manager, the role is responsible for executing day-to-day engineering and logistics activities in accordance with the MCPSPO Engineering Management System (EMS). The key responsibilities of the role include, but not limited to: Undertake requirements engineering activities. Undertake design activities as part of Preliminary Design and Detailed Design stages of an ECP. Draft or provide input towards the development of Statements of Work for acquisition. Conduct Verification and Validation (V&V) activities as part of engineering change management activities. Implement the System Safety Program and perform safety engineering activities. Develop or provide input towards the development of Service Requirements as part of maintenance definition. Identify items of supply required for codification and liaise with the Logistics Office to complete codification and cataloguing. Undertake Logistics Support Analysis. Undertake sparing analysis. Perform technical investigations into failures or faults and resolve problems or provide recommendations towards resolution. Provide engineering support such as SQEP review, engineering advice, engineering support for trials. As the ideal candidate you will bring: The successful candidate requires sufficient experience with weapons and combat systems to assure competence as a fully trained professional. Typical requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or a related discipline) and a minimum of 5 years' experience, with a preferred average experience ranging from 6-10 years. Degree qualification (Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline); Weapons and Combat Systems background; Australian Citizenship; Hold or ability to obtain an NV1 security clearance; Experience in a Department of Defence, preferably in Maritime; Highly developed organisational and analytical skills; Ability to multitask and deliver the work in full; Knowledge of Design, Technical Investigation and Test; Demonstrated abilities to develop positive working relationships through high level communications skills. Sound proficiency in MS Office suite of software; Previous exposure to Australian Defence Force (ADF)/Capability and Support Group (CASG) and / or Marine Engineering Industry is desirable; Experience with Configuration Management support system applications - Configuration Management Tool (CMT), Asset Maintenance Planning System (AMPS), NAVALLOW and / or MILIS; Professional association.
