The role The 9LV Combat Management System (CMS) is currently operational on both the ANZAC and LHD platforms and development is ongoing on a number of other platforms within the Royal Australian Navy and for a range of international customers. Within this context, the Senior Software Engineer's main focus will be on the specification, design, development, documentation and testing of software components within the Tactical sub-systems of the 9LV CMS (e.g. routes, patterns, figures, track identification and classification). The Senior Software Engineer is also expected to support their team with the development and maintenance of other software systems that their team is responsible for. Further, the successful candidate will: Participate in the development and maintenance of software components and associated simulators Develop an understanding of the operational use of the associate system under development Produce all artefacts required for deliverables and internal reviews Participate in reviews of software and documentation as required Perform integration and testing of software as required Participate in the generation of estimates for future software deliveries as required Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role. About you Your skills and experience will include: Experience in writing software requirements for software components within software intensive systems Experience in designing software components using a number of formal design methodologies, within software intensive systems Experience in developing and testing enterprise quality software in Java within software intensive systems Experience in developing software for real-time and/or surveillance systems Knowledge of contemporary software development standards, principles and best practices Experience with the products, development environment, and the tools used to develop and support software As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
