Our Software team are the brains behind Australia's number one banking app, Netbank, Cardless Cash, Comm Sec Pocket and Spend Tracker. As the Engineering Manager, you'll be part of the engineering tooling crew, supporting the bank's CI/CD tools as well as an escalation point for a subset of those services (build and deploy services). This position will see you become responsible for leading a squad of software engineers and the service management for a portfolio of services. You'll play an important role in steering the organisation by contributing to the strategy and determining which problems to invest in solving. In doing so, you will bring a perfect blend of people management and technical knowledge to this team and will be responsible for shaping its evolution. See yourself in our team The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to CommBank customers and in doing so is responsible for the digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security, and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience to over 53,000 people across CBA and provide the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers. The CIO - Technology team, which ensure that CommBank has a world-class engineering capability and is at the forefront of technology, using innovative and emerging technology to help our customers and support our Group strategy. We work hard to ensure best practice is discovered and nurtured, whether inside CommBank or in the broader technology ecosystem. We're interested in hearing from people who: Have a background across service management leading and supporting complex incidents and escalations - essential. Bring a technical background to consult and lead the Group to build and deploy services - essential. Have a thorough understanding of available DevOps tooling , such as software or tooling for the CI/CD pipeline. Proactively collaborates with others to resolve service issues and reduce operational activities by automating repetitive tasks. Have software development experience and a willingness to learn and jump into the deep-end of technical problems. Contribute to CommBank's Engineering Management Practice by coaching and mentoring engineers and raising the bar for the discipline across the organization. Effectively communicate engineering practice standards and consistent ways of working across squads and CBA that align to global best practice. Manages workforce planning and creates a safe and trusted working environment where our engineers' voices are heard. Encourages risk-taking and constructively challenges the status quo while influencing stakeholders and building diverse and inclusive teams. Have a 'you build it and you run it' mindset and continue focus on delivering top quality services to end-users. Skills: We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don't expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team: Service management experience in Agile environment is essential. Expertise with CI/CD pipeline - TeamCity, Octopus Deploy, GitHub Actions. Overseeing the governance, compliance and operational health of services. Solid experience in managing major service incidents and handling escalations for critical functions or processes essential. Proficient with modern languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar is a plus. Familiarity with Containerisation and public cloud engineering - AWS preferred.
