How will I help? The Senior Automation Engineer function plays an important role in the development and maintenance of technical solutions on the hybrid cloud and ensures that the detailed design and operations are fit for purpose. Your key responsibilities include: Provide expert technical expertise to Enterprise Compute and Storage Services teams, covering all aspects of the cloud within a specific service or pattern. Set direction and oversight for the consistent use and implementation of tools, standards, methods and processes to ensure that quality services are developed with consistent and maintainable code which supports risk, secure operations, and compliance management. Accountable for and input into the provision of future services and maintenance of catalogued services onto the platforms. Deliver the build, deployment, and operations of automated cloud enabled patterns, tools, and platforms. Apply Agile frameworks, techniques and processes and overlay agile reporting and governance to deliver incremental value to areas of responsibility. Demonstrate a deep understanding and a high level of experience with DevOps, CI/CD, SecOps, test driven development (TDD) and other high maturity practices. Identify and facilitate the resolution of design decisions and issues through the solution design and delivery phases to ensure timely identification and resolution of design issues and decisions. Contribute to effective communications with Suppliers and proactively establish and maintain an effective network of key technical experts required to deliver the end-to-end business services. Maintain focus on industry and technical trends to enable evaluation and recommendation of changes to the patterns and platform, maintenance and integration across hybrid service providers. Lead, develop and grow a team of Automation Technical Specialists, in accordance with Westpac's people principles and processes. What's in it for me? To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the below skills: Proficiency in advanced analysis, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and consultative skills with a strong emphasis on Ansible automation. Must have a strong DevOps background. Comprehensive knowledge, problem solving, troubleshooting and consultative skills of the Windows and/or Redhat Enterprise Linux Operating Systems and Services. Demonstrated expertise in Ansible or related automation tools such as Chef and PowerShell. Ability to develop automation code using Ansible, along with proficiency in scripting languages like Ruby, PowerShell, and Python. Demonstrable knowledge in one or more of automation and orchestration products/platforms (like vRO, Terraform, Azure Resource Manager, AWS CloudFormation etc.) Proficient in DevOps tools including Artifactory, Jira, Bamboo, and Git, with a focus on integrating Ansible playbooks into CI/CD pipelines. Experience in one or more of the cloud solutions (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, etc.) What's it like to work there?
