Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to become a member of the Rushmore Operations team, reporting directly to the Chief Operations Engineer, and working as part of an integrated and globally disperse team. The position requires a flexible work schedule driven by system and operational requirements, and is located at a filed site in Alice Springs, Australia . This role requires a two (2) year commitment and the ability to successfully pass a physical and psychological exam. A comprehensive overseas compensation package is offered with this position including relocation assistance. This role requires the ability to work odd and/or extended hours covering a 24/7 period and periodic 12-hour shifts. Role Description: Staff Software Engineer supports the Chief Operations Engineer with planning and execution of operational efficiencies, process improvements, and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) directed by the customer. This individual will perform a diverse set of tasks in support of real-time operations and operations development. Job responsibilities include: - Support execution of an operational DevOps vision through integration and system automation to facilitate continuous build, continuous integration, continuous test, and continuous deployment pipeline - Support planning, integration, and checkout efforts for Ground Element Modernization installation - Technical support to a cross-site team responsible for software baseline management and anomaly resolution - Be the technical liaison to the Chief Operations Engineer and serve as technical expert on cross-site operational engineering review boards - Successfully complete and maintain an initial Systems Controller certification while supporting a minimum requirement of real-time operations shifts per quarter - Provide and lead 24x7 on-call anomaly support and resolution activities - Regularly take a leadership role in providing insight and knowledge transfer to others on internal and external technical solutions to solve complex problems - Review and support factory design working groups and future systems development activities for impacts to system operability - Interface with government customers and factory specialists in technical exchanges and question answering forums Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline plus 14 years of technical/engineering experience OR a Masters Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline plus 12 years of technical/engineering experience OR a PhD in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) discipline plus 9 years of technical/engineering experience . - Must have a strong understanding of the software development life cycle - Experience with software development (Java / Javascript, C++, PERL, or Python) and its life cycle - Ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance, SCI access and complete a counterintelligence polygraph examination prior to start date Preferred Qualifications: - Experience leading design, test, and integration of engineering processes on complex systems - Experience with Agile methodology and processes - Experience with build tools and configuration of pipeline jobs in a CI/CD orchestration using tools such as Jenkins - Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations - Ability to collaborate and achieve consensus when dealing with groups from diverse organizations and backgrounds - Current active Top Secret/SCI security clearance Salary Range: $150,000 - $225,000 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
