With a strong background in Civil Engineering, here's how a Design Engineer for our Solar Australia office contributes to our team: Responsibilities Manages consultants, and coordinates technical requirements and specifications with suppliers, and subcontractors while ensuring all project deliverables are met on schedule. Oversee and review design and procurement schedules to align with construction schedules and project requirements. Manages Request for Proposals (RFP's), reviews technical documents and requirements to ensure accurate submission of all design deliverables to the Client inclusive of required contractual redlines based on past experience, best practices, lessons learned, and industry standards. Lead the development of conceptual civil designs in AutoCAD (or equivalent), preliminary engineering analyses, and performance evaluations to meet client deliverables. Conducts a detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications to determine overall project requirements and identifies impacts and implications to the construction engineering design. Reviews design documents, shop drawings, datasheets, and other applicable technical information. Determines implementation strategies and techniques to effectively integrate equipment specifications to design and engineering plans. Reviews detailed engineering drawings (civil, electrical, structural or others) to ensure compliance with applicable project requirements, construction practicality and efficiency, codes, and standards. Works with local utilities and grid operations to understand and support with the development of connection and energization documentation. Reviews and analyzes energy losses for designs. Supervises, trains, and mentors direct and indirect reports with a focus on growing the team. Qualifications Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline (e.g., electrical engineering, civil engineering, construction management, project management, or etc.). 5 years of progressive engineering experience. Preference will be given to those with experience working in design and engineering roles within utility-scale solar project construction. Proficient electrical and civil engineering knowledge; understanding of plans, specifications, methods, and procedures. Understanding of contract and subcontracts with an ability to manage contractual obligations and responsibilities related to project scope. Strong organizational and time management skills, high level of detail orientation and ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting and tight deadlines across multiple projects. Excellent working knowledge of various computer software programs, including AutoCAD and Excel specifically. Ability to read and understand 2D and 3D construction drawings and specifications, create and communicate markups to construction drawings. Strong leadership acumen, encompassing effective team management and mentorship capabilities. Desire to work in a design function, with strong knowledge of utility scale solar construction, processes, engineering, and design. Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
