About the OPPORTUNITY We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineering Manager to join our Hunter Class line of business based at Osborne SA, reporting to the Transverse Design Authority. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working. You will provide engineering and management expertise to the delivery of the Hunter Class Frigate Project to ensure that the Vulnerability and Shock requirements are met. You will manage the Vulnerability and Shock engineering resource for the project including the delivery of engineering work and services. You will be responsible for the development of engineering design and production output in line with the survivability requirements of the project, within cost, schedule and quality targets Key responsibilities include: Ensure that the whole ship vulnerability requirements are successfully managed and integrated into the HCF design to provide WSRD compliant performance for vulnerability Delivery of engineering effort to budget and schedule in line with the Vulnerability Level 3 Schedule Manage the assessment of wholeship vulnerability and equipment level shock performance either through internal modelling or sub-contracts Control the equipment shock specification and manage the contractor relationship to ensure shock compliant delivery from all suppliers Provide discipline interface to other disciplines / areas of the business to ensure the delivered HCF capability is optimised for low vulnerability across About YOU Experience of working within and managing Engineering Design effort or equivalent experience in a heavy industrial/marine environment Ability to operate in a large, complex project at engineering management level in a multi-disciplinary, matrix management environment Technical knowledge of combat systems and platform design and integration for naval surface or submarines Knowledge of the engineering life cycle and the relationship between activities in different phases of the engineering lifecycle Technical knowledge of modelling and verification techniques for transversals and experience using FEA packages preferable Knowledge of Project Management techniques (EV,CPI,SPI, Risk etc) Knowledge of at least one of the following: Design to protect Equipment against naval shock, shock qualification and ship integration Vulnerability assessment techniques Armour protection strategies Strong communication skills (cross functional), strong customer focus able to utilise negotiation skills and manage potential conflicts Proficient skills in teamwork, collaboration, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations We believe in hiring for potential, we know that some candidates hesitate if they don't tick all the boxes.
