As a Senior Software Engineer are responsible for guiding and leading the architecture, delivery and development of the software systems that power our business unit. As a highly skilled software developer with the experience to both code with and mentor other technical team members to deliver high quality, well-designed software. The role will share a large amount of responsibility for the quality of the software being built, including but not limited to: achieving desired business outcomes; meeting reliability and performance expectations; safely managing security and data privacy concerns. Senior Software Engineers use their depth and breadth of experience to help guide the team with a strong sense of pragmatism: knowing how much design work is enough, how much testing is enough, to maximise team efficiency. You will spot code design problems early and lead the work to address them. What you'll bring to the role: 8 years of experience as a professional software engineer (typically) Experienced delivery practitioner, with in-depth skills in most or all of the following: Agile and Lean software development practices, Continuous Delivery, Continuous Integration, Test-Driven Development (TDD), automated testing best practices, DevOps In-depth, expert knowledge of core technologies required for the role, such as: Latest versions of HTML, CSS, JavaScript Client-side programming frameworks, specifically React.js with a focus on the latest features and best practices Solid understanding of GraphQL fundamentals, integration with React using libraries like Apollo Proficiency in TypeScript with React Server-side programming using Node.js, expressiveness with modern features of ES6 Familiarity with the Next.js framework, for server-side rendering and static site generation Proficient with automated testing tools and libraries specifically for React and Node.js ecosystems Understanding of SQL databases and other data store variants Knowledge of cloud computing platforms, AWS, and services relevant to React and Node.js deployment Experience with containerization technology concepts, such as Docker, and orchestration with Kubernetes Good knowledge of important software design considerations for React and Node.js applications Qantas is an Equal Opportunity Employer, so by coming to work for us, you'll be part of an organisation that encourages diversity, supports charities and environmental initiatives.
