Sofware Engineer - Multiple positions Start Date : 1st July 2024 Application closing date : 03/06/2024 Duration: 12 Months Security Clearence: NV1 - This will require an upgrade to TSPV Location: Adelaide Company: DSTG Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) is leading software development activities to demonstrate the state of the art in the agile delivery of novel Automated Intelligence capability for operational consideration by capability managers. This work will contribute to the DSTG Resilient Decision Highway (RDH) project and its Mission Adaptation for operational benefit. The RDH is an Australian Defence Force and FVEY partner (under the Grendel banner) driven state-of-the art platform for collaborative problem solving, superior situational awareness, and informed operational decision-making. The RDH is a modular and agile technology ecosystem providing timely situational awareness to the intelligence analyst and warfighter regardless of mission domain. It has a focus on not just automation analytics but primarily on the agile transition and integration of novel analytic capability to analysts in a timely manner, unhindered by the operating classification or mission. Addressing the "How" as well as the "What". The RDH is a large project that has been evolving since 2019 with multiple stakeholders across the defence enterprise. Due to the scope of the requirements, it is expected that multiple panel members will be engaged to undertake this statement of work. The RDH project is comprised of multiple teams, described below, that work closely together and with other DSTG teams to deliver outcomes. It is expected that the successful vendors will work together across the LOE's, with measured exchange of resources between teams to enhance resiliency and productivity. The teams will work under limited guidance through an integrated team of Programme Managers provided by the successful tenders. Therefore, vendors are instructed that while they may apply to completely resource a LOE, they may also partially contribute to one or many LOE's. Development will be conducted using an Agile methodology, and the expectation is that the OSP will regularly engage stakeholders to identify user requirements and prioritise development activities. Location of work Adelaide Working arrangements Due to the integrated nature of the teams and the classification of the work, being up to and including TOP SECRET. The preference is for the work to be undertaken at DSTG Edinburgh. Where this is not possible other options will be considered under consultation as agreed to by both parties. Working-From-Home or from DISP accredited facilities will be supported at 20% of the resource's time. Increased external work will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Required Essential Criteria 1. A formal degree or equivalent experience in a field of relevance is required. 2.A comprehensive understanding of the Defence Operational Environment. 3. Understanding of modern software development / programme management methodologies - Python or Java preferred 4. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Desirable 1. Prior ADF, AIC experience 2. Prior RDH experience The breadth of RDH requires a multi-disciplinary team, activities will include but may not be limited to: Engagement with Defence projects and operators to gather and continuously refine requirements. Application design and development roadmap, including integration with DSTG research Development of prototype APIs, services and applications End-user feedback and application iteration Appropriate documentation and user guides for evangelising and onboarding.
