Cloud Infrastructure Engineer — City, North Canberra

Willyama Services is seeking a skilled Cloud infrastructure engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Cloud infrastructure Engineer, you will design and maintain both on-premises and cloud system infrastructure, ensuring it is efficient, effective, and aligned with best practices and standards. This involves overseeing end-to-end delivery of diverse cloud, server, storage, and application infrastructure projects, with a focus on comprehensive solutions encompassing virtualisation, database systems, high availability setups, and cloud architectures. You will also develop and uphold frameworks, standards, and procedures for maintaining and evolving cloud infrastructure, ensuring consistency and efficiency across all projects and operations. Offering specialist technical support for escalated, critical, and unresolved issues, particularly related to cloud, server, and application infrastructure, including virtualisation, high availability, business continuity, SSO, and IAM. This includes effective liaison with stakeholders, optimisation of support processes, and timely response to incidents. Key Responsibilities: Advanced proficiency with Azure cloud solutions, with the ability to design scalable and resilient cloud architectures. Advanced knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and ARM. Experience with containerisation and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes. Proficiency with using continuous integration tools (e.g. Azure DevOps) Intermediate proficiency with backend API design and development (e.g. OpenAPI Spec, Swagger, C# .NET, Python). Have a deep understanding of IaaS and PaaS services offered on the various cloud platforms and understand how to use them together to build complex solutions. Strong understanding of networking concepts, including VPC, subnetting, VPNs, and load balancing. Ensure deliverables are completed within target timeframes and are consistently of high-quality. Advanced proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, Perl, Bash). Intermediate proficiency in enterprise application, server, software and networking architecture and troubleshooting. Intermediate proficiency Windows Server administration. Intermediate Linux/Unix administration. Intermediate proficiency with database operations and queries (e.g. MS SQL Server, T-SQL, Mysql, MongoDB); Familiarity with cloud security and compliance standards (Essential 8, ISO 27001, CIS, NIST). Proficient in performance monitoring, optimisation, and troubleshooting of cloud resources. Skilled in identifying and mitigating security risks and vulnerabilities. Strong collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Requirements: One or more of the following Microsoft Certifications: AZ-500: Microsoft Azure Security Technologies SC-100: Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect SC-200: Microsoft Security Operations Analyst SC-300: Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator SC-400: Administering Information Protection and Compliance AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional (desirable) Education: Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant industry experience. Must be able to maintain a security clearance (must be an Australian citizen). The role is based in Canberra, but applicants from Syndey will also be considered.
