Our Opportunity Work Location: Dawson Road, Perth Airport Roster: Monday to Friday Fortescue Hydrogen Systems, Product Development team, is presently seeking a Lead Mechanical & Piping Engineer to join our fast paced and high performing team to design cutting edge green hydrogen production systems. In this role you will be responsible for Mechanical and Piping Engineering Design across our Balance of Plant scopes that enable green hydrogen systems. This role is suitable for a candidate that can execute projects independently, as well as lead and oversee the development of growing team of Engineers and Designers. The candidate should be highly experienced in technical mechanical engineering and should also have highly developed skills in pressure vessel, tank, and piping design. The candidate should be able to lead the Mechanical & Piping team and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, on both new and existing Prototype Hydrogen Balance of plants. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, construction, commissioning of Mechanical and Piping systems for the Product Development Balance of Plant Team. Responsible for delivering all Mechanical and Piping Engineering deliverables. Experience generating engineering estimates and quotations. Define mechanical & piping engineering specifications and then lead mechanical design against specification. Evaluate, engage, and manage equipment vendors / technical specialists for supply of components including writing scopes of work and ongoing contract management. Produce and maintain technical and engineering documentation throughout design, prototyping and operation life cycle. Carry out Design calculations, datasheet development, technical proposals, material selection and suitability for static equipment and piping. Participate in FMECA and other design/safety review workshops (e.g. HAZOP/LOPA) and uphold Safety and Process Safety principles through inherent safety in design. Qualifications and Experience Tertiary engineering qualifications (Mechanical Engineering). Minimum 12-15 years of detailed design experience in Hydrogen or Oil / Gas industry. Ability to work independently on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines, Knowledge of standards and regulations associated with design, installation, and testing. Experience dealing with Regulators such as DMIRs. Previous experience leading team of engineers and designers.
