See yourself in our team: Business Banking Technology is responsible for the world-leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank Business Banking - from innovative product platforms for our customers, to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive simplicity and better banking, an essential component of great customer service underpinning a strong emphasis on software development as a craft and the adoption of industry best engineering practices. You'll be part of the BB Tech (Business Banking Technology) team, which is responsible for building and delivering Business Banking Web Portal easily, quickly, safely and with quality from desktop to production. We do this by looking at ways to drive simplification, change and improvement on tools, technologies, processes and procedures across the group. As a Principal Engineer, you'll be a core member of the team, expected to lead the strategy and adoption of DevOps engineering best practices across BB Tech. You will provide core technology and domain expertise to inform technical strategy and lead the design of solutions for complex challenges within a business unit. Also, you'll have a strong risk mindset in ensuring that appropriate cyber security controls are implemented and play a significant mentoring role in providing technical assistance to the engineers in the team. We're interested in hearing from people who: Have a thorough understanding of the DevOps tooling available in the market, such as software or tooling for the CI/CD pipeline Identifies, gains support and ensures execution of technical direction and strategy for BB Tech, with a particular focus on CI/CD and DevSecOps Designs and implements solutions to complex problems, including onboarding and migrating to new tooling as well as removing obsolete systems and code Provides expert consultancy across the enterprise, with a particular focus on DevOps and CI/CD tooling Drives continuous improvement and technical uplift initiatives for the team Proactively collaborates with others to share knowledge and resolve issues Encourages risk-taking and constructively challenges the status quo while influencing stakeholders and building diverse and inclusive teams Skills: We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don't expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team: Expert knowledge in web and API design and development. Strong experience with modern languages .NET, TypeScript, and React. Expert knowledge and experience in CI/CD using DevSecOps best practices Strong experience with Source control and Continuous Integration tools and systems such as Github, TeamCity, Jenkins, Octopus Deploy Experience and knowledge of Release and Deployment strategies, tools and systems Understanding of the various types of testing (eg unit, integration, non functional) with an appreciation of why this is important Familiarity with cloud infrastructure - AWS or Azure Working with us: Whether you're passionate about customer service, driven by data, or called by creativity, a career with us is for you.
