The Role The Senior Infrastructure Engineer seconds the Cloud Infrastructure Director in all aspects of improving and running a World-Class Tech Platform, serving eCommerce website, B2B services and API services. This role will also collaborate very closely with other teams including Software Engineering & Development, Data Engineering, and Support/Triage. Core Activities Maintenance, monitoring and support of all aspects of the Cloud Infrastructure (mostly AWS, with a bit of Google Cloud Platform) Design new Cloud Infrastructure services based on resilience, high-availability and low maintenance (PaaS) Provisioning services and resources needed by developers across multiple environments. Supporting the developers in their day-to-day tasks (troubleshooting), and by enhancing their experience and productivity on the Platform (DevOps). Migration and modernisation of existing applications and platforms to BRG's standard platform. Designing, maintaining Disaster Recovery processes. Ongoing review and improvements to the Network Security (WAF log analysis and rules, security groups reviews) Management and configuration of open-source software such as NGINX, MariaDB Management and design of highly reliable Software Deployment pipelines, CI/CD (GitHub Actions). Management of Incident Response, and resolution of Infrastructure issues and outages. Review of Cloud Infrastructure costs, with an eye to optimise and reduce spend. Experience Required The candidate has ideally 5 years of experience in the Cloud Infrastructure, and DevOps Industry, and has a passion for creating reliable systems, based on AWS and Linux/Open-Source technologies. Previous projects led or having taken a pivotal role to, from an infrastructure perspective, would include: Containerisation and modernisation of Infrastructure (monolithic to micro-services) Development of CI/CD Pipelines, ideally through GitHub Design, documentation and creation of Infrastructure-as-code using Terraform (HCL). • Management of a log ingestion, instrumentational platform (e.g. DataDog) Previous experience in an eCommerce or Tourism Industry, and/or a business-critical / SaaS Platform would be an advantage. Essential Skills AWS Networking (ALB, Cloudfront, Security Groups, NAT Gateways, etc) AWS EC2 (Instances, AWS Fargate, ECR, Lambda Functions) AWS Relational Database Service (RDS) Load Balancers and Gateways: NGINX, API Gateway SSL Certificates management and renewal (AWS ACM, LetsEncrypt Certbot, DigiCert) Development, maintenance and deployment of Infrastructure-as-Code / Terraform HCL Management of Cloud Security (IAM, Policies, Security Groups) General Linux Server Administration and Shell scripting (Bash, Python) Administration of Relational Database Management systems (MariaDB/MySQL) Experience is packaging and deploying Node.JS and Java-based applications. Mastery of common CI/CD tools, such as GitHub Actions and CircleCI Experience of one or more Instrumentation platforms (CloudWatch, DataDog).
