About the role In a close-knit and growing team, you'll be working as part of a dynamic and supportive group of scientific and engineering specialists to deliver challenging and complex projects, while leading and supporting the career development of the next generation of geotechnical specialists. Reporting to the Practice Leader for Geotechnics across Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia, and supported by our expert Principals, this position will be Melbourne focused but also provides the opportunity to support offices across Australia and New Zealand in field operations and design. As a key member of the team, you'll help deliver large scale geotechnical investigations including highways, rail networks and property - ensuring the highest safety, environmental and social standards are met. You will be responsible for management of site investigations, writing geotechnical interpretation reports and providing geotechnical advice to inform design on infrastructure projects. You'll also accountable for the planning and management of resources, budgeting and developing junior staff on geotechnical and geological field and office tasks. Importantly, you'll use your experience in geotechnical investigation, interpretation, and design to coach and support the training and development of the Emerging Geotechnical Professionals within the region. Ideally you will have: An engineering geology degree. A Masters in Geology / Engineering Geology would be desirable with a commitment to further study and gaining RPGeo and/or chartership A minimum of 7 years of experience in site investigation and development of geological models for geotechnical design A rounded knowledge of AS1726 and experience in soil and rock classifications Experience and interest in developing junior staff in their technical capabilities You'll bring knowledge of ground conditions in and around Melbourne and local market experience working within the transport and property infrastructure sectors Experience in a consulting environment and developed project management skills Experience with 3D geological modelling and structural geology is an advantage A desire to grow technically, as well as developing the full spectrum of consulting skills Have strong written and verbal communication skills and exceptional interpretative and analytical skills What's in it for you?
