The Role We are seeking mid level Geotechnical Engineers to join our tailings team in Brisbane, Queensland. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated experience in tailings dam design with knowledge of the design principals for upstream & downstream embankment dams, concrete faced and geomembrane lined rockfill dams, spillways and water management systems. You will hold a bachelor's degree in civil/geotechnical/geo-environmental engineering with a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience preferable from a consulting environment. A mix of design office and site-based experience would be considered favourably. Please note this role is based in our Brisbane Office therefore relocation assistance will be offered to the successful candidate. Key Duties and Responsibilities Assist with the planning, execution and acquisition of quality field data and when appropriate the analysis of this geotechnical data including geotechnical logging and mapping. Compilation and presentation of field investigation results for input, which leads to the creation of design parameters. Ensure specifications, design and analysis meet client requirements. Other key areas of responsibility can include: Open pit stability and slope Stability; Design and construction of Structures like tailings dam and retaining walls; Soil liquefaction; Ground improvement; Site investigations and advanced in-situ testing; Earthworks and QA/QC; Laboratory testing; Numerical modeling and analysis. Our Ideal Candidate The successful candidates will ideally have: Degree qualification in Engineering with either Geotechnical or Civil specialisations; Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience within the mining industry and experience with earth fill dam construction; An understanding in technical aspects of geotechnical investigations, civil/geotechnical designs, documentation and civil/geotechnical projects; Excellent communication and reporting skills; A proven track record on site project management and client liaison and able to demonstrate ability to maintain relationships with stakeholders; Familiarity with use of Slope/W, Plaxis, Flac and AutoCad software will have added advantages; A commitment to travel internationally to a project site if required.
