Project Manager / Engineer — Newcastle Region, New South Wales

Role: Project Manager / Engineer Contract: Initial 3 Months possible extensions Daily Rate: $900 - $1100 per day Super Location: Newcastle, NSW We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Manager / Engineer to oversee the development, management, and implementation of major infrastructure and maintenance projects for a leading NSW Government organisation. This role is critical to achieving safety, asset management, and network efficiency objectives. Key Accountabilities: Deliver efficient and effective project and contract management services to ensure that transport infrastructure and maintenance projects meet specified time, cost, quality, and scope requirements. Lead the investigation, design, estimating, and procurement processes for projects to meet client objectives. Manage the development, tendering, awarding, and administration of professional service, construction, and maintenance contracts, controlling scope and managing contract risks and issues. Lead multidisciplinary project teams, driving project objectives and targets by modeling high-performance behaviors, including teamwork, initiative, and flexibility. Provide mentoring and coaching to less experienced team members. Build and maintain effective working relationships with customers, colleagues, stakeholders, and partners. Manage risks and influence sustainable outcomes through active stakeholder and community involvement plans. Key Challenges: Building and maintaining strong internal and external networks and influencing people from diverse technical and other backgrounds. Proactively identifying and managing risks that could impact project delivery, developing innovative solutions, and seeking additional expertise when necessary. Understanding and delivering multiple priorities within agreed standards and timeframes. About You: Proven experience in project and contract management within the transport infrastructure or maintenance sector. Degree in Engineering or other relevant Capital Works disciplines Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive high-performance teams and mentor junior staff. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. The ability to manage multiple priorities, with a proactive approach to risk management and problem-solving.
