This will be achieved through the provision of technical expertise in the areas of system business requirements, system integration, interfacing, design support, testing, commissioning, operation and maintenance processes. In doing this you will ensure effective coordination of key operational activities and resources associated with project management and process development. Some of your responsibilities will include: Provide expert advice and consultancy in the development and implementation of temporary traffic management policies, standards and guidelines for improving the operation and safety of the road network for all road users including non-motorised road users. Prepare and deliver advice to senior management, prepare submissions, technical standards and briefing notes relating to traffic engineering issues, with a primary focus on traffic engineering product approvals and MUTCD Part 3. Program manage and report on the delivery of the Traffic Management Improvement work program. Represent the Department on selected national, state and local government committees and establish and maintain effective professional relationships and lines of communication with government and other agencies involved in temporary traffic engineering practices both within and outside of Queensland. Participate in the development and implementation of state and federal programs dealing with traffic management and road safety as they affect the department. Provide effective professional technical leadership in traffic engineering practice to project managers to enable improved performance and the safe and effective operation of the state controlled road network for all road users (the focus is on temporary traffic engineering practice - long term, short term and mobile works situations). Knowledge of the Acts, regulations, legislation and technical standards relevant to the operations of state-controlled roads. Ensure that emerging traffic engineering practices and technology are identified to allow implementation and maintenance of world best practice standards on statecontrolled roads. Establish and maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders while leading and directing the development of staff. Act in accordance with the Queensland Public Service legislative framework and Code of Conduct. Model ethical behaviour and consistently apply those ethical standards to self and others. Commitment to Transport and Main Roads' Workplace Health & Safety Policy. Mandatory requirements A Washington Accord accredited four-year degree in Engineering or equivalence recognised by Engineers Australia in one of the following disciplines: Mechatronics, Systems, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Systems, Control Engineering, or Civil disciplines. Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position. Queensland Traffic Management Design qualifications (or commitment to obtain as a priority). Valid Queensland 'C' class driver's licence or equivalent.
