Battery Systems - BMS engineer — The Rocks, Sydney

Job Purpose: To be responsible for the on-time specification and delivery of the Battery Management System for the High Voltage Batteries, across the different electrified programmes in AML: You will be responsible for the design and validation of the subsystem. You will be developing the architecture and requirements for the BMS design, then validating these requirements across different test properties, including AML rigs, Battery Test houses or vehicles, or using the Engineering Partners and Suppliers testing facilities. Key Duties & Responsibilities: Managing relationship with external and internal suppliers, including the on-time requirement cascade, including decomposition and requirement elicitation, Quality control, DV schedule, etc. Developing and coordinating test plans to ensure the BMS is fully validated by the time the certification is required. Execution of the DV plans optimizing the resources and minimizing the effort, making use of industry best practices (SiL/MiL/HiL). Issue investigation: covering full range of vehicle to component failure. Lessons learnt and default management, using the quality processes for automotive industry: 8D, Ishikawa, etc. Defining best practices, standards, and internal documentation towards a common approach in all AML programmes. Responsible for the release process of the given components, as well as similar components that could be provided by the same supplier. Functional safety assessment and impact on the components sourced. Simulation data coordination. Working closely with the wider AML Simulation team - Cross - team coordination of information sharing, cascading, and reporting. Task tracking - Weekly program status report as part of the Battery working group. Quality: Delivery within an APQP, six sigma or similar framework (DFMEA, quality planning, PPAP.) Identify & contain potential quality concerns using engineering quality systems. Qualification & Experience: Experience within the automotive industry or similar domain experience Experience in the delivery of BMS from concept to production. Experience designing and conducting DV plans. Experience leading Impact analysis activities and running the associated test plans. Leadership of product development projects from early R&D to series production Experience on full vehicle delivery, from concept to mass production. Other battery component design experience, such as busbars, connectors, etc. DFMEA delivery experience. Automotive electrical design and development. Engineering Degree in Electrical, Electronic and/or related field. Behaviours: Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, self-motivated, eager to take responsibility and deliver results with minimal supervision. Demonstrated experience in cross-functional teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to organise multiple inputs into succinct summary. Accomplished writer of technical and project status reports. Fluent presenter of technical information at all levels including to senior director level at AML and in external companies. Ability to challenge experts, consultants and seniors by presenting measured opinion. Passion for the advancement of hybrid and electric powertrain and vehicle technology.
