About the OPPORTUNITY We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Maritime Sustainment businessand work on the newest ship platform, the Hobart Class DDG naval ships. Reporting to the Integration Engineering Lead, you will be employed on a permanent full time basis, and can be situated either in Garden Island (Potts Point), Sydney or in Osborne, Adelaide. We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working. You will be an integral member of our Engineering Change Integration team and will perform mechanical engineering activities from requirements development through to verification, testing and integration, following the systems engineering lifecycle. Key responsibilities include: Provide advice to the engineering team on the delivery of mechanical engineering change tasks Support the process and management of engineering change integration on mechanical systems/equipment Collaborate effectively with customers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders, maintaining a positive culture within the DDG ship enterprise Review mechanical engineering changes, identify potential misalignments and convey any deltas and discrepancies for risk assessment/reviews Create and update mechanical engineering documentation and artefacts Perform mechanical engineering verification and validation activities, and conduct mechanical product risk and safety assessments Seek and share good practice and knowledge to continuously improve mechanical engineering practices About YOU Mechanical engineering experience and a relevant engineering tertiary degree An understanding of systems engineering methodology and experience with various engineering technologies Good attention to detail, critical thinking and problem solving skills Self-motivation, be open to new challenges, and the ability to collaborate and communicate well with a variety of stakeholders Whilst not essential, maritime industry experience or engineering integration experience, will be highly regarded We believe in hiring for potential, we know that some candidates hesitate if they don't tick all the boxes.
