Because together, we can create a better world. About the Opportunity: We are building a $500 million glass manufacturing and remanufacturing facility in Yatala just south of Brisbane. The factory represents the large investment we have ever made, we recycle up to 200,000 tonnes of Queensland’s glass annually to produce 1 billion bottles a year. We are building next to our box factory and beverage can plants, this will create a beverage container precinct to further support of customers and a range of new career pathways for our staff. The project is expected to be operational in 2025. What you will do: This role will support our Engineering team, in the areas of both mechanical and chemical engineering. You will play a key role in finalising the design, and later supporting the construction and commissioning of the furnace, the oxygen plant, Balance of Plant (BOP) services, flue gas abatement, and potentially a world first carbon capture and conversion plant. Support our Lead Mechanical Engineer and Area Project Managers to develop designs, engineering specifications and the scope of works to enable vendors to execute their detailed designs. Oversee Process Flow Diagrams (mass and energy balances), P&IDs and equipment lists. Participate in the rollout and delivery of the Safety in Design framework, including HAZOP and SMS workshops, as well as Hazardous Area Assessments Supporting the overall process design for the furnace, cullet preheater (heat exchanger), abatement, stack, and carbon recovery plants. Complete the engineering design of BOP services and perform tender evaluations with ongoing technical and project management of equipment suppliers across spray and coating systems, wet scrubbers, RO plants, process cooling towers, trade waste pits and diesel fuel systems. Provide clear and concise instructions to Consultants, OEMs, Construction and Commissioning teams, to ensure that expectations are met. Planning and prioritising work packages, supervising the installation work of OEMs and supporting commissioning and site set-up support. Your Experience: A Bachelor of Engineering specialising in Chemical Engineering. Ten years’ experience in a complex chemical engineering roles ideally in midstream or downstream oil and gas processing where you specialise in gas and liquid separation. Additionally, those with OEM design experience in BOP applications would also be viewed favorably. Experience in a leadership role, managing and supervising internal and external teams delivering on major industrial projects. Broad-based experience in engineering, design, commission, and problem solving. You will feel comfortable engaging with different stakeholders and personality types.
