SAS Administrator/ Technical Engineer Expert — City, North Canberra

A Federal Government Application Infrastructure Branch is responsible for the provisioning and support of underlying applications and databases that support the Agency’s critical services. This includes performing ongoing maintenance to ensure vendor support and stability, providing incident investigation and performance analysis, advanced monitoring solutions and data and analytical reporting capabilities for senior executive committee and other federal agencies. SAS Administrator / Technical Engineer Expert SAS Administrator / Technical Engineer Expert exercises a considerable degree of independence with work being performed under the general guidance of the team leader and the Director. A suitable candidate will have proven experience in managing, maintaining or supporting Statistical Analysis System (SAS) platform in a large-scale organisation. The candidate will excel in high tempo work environments and will be able to balance several key priorities simultaneously while ensuring the highest levels of quality in the work being delivered by the team. The Landscape The landscape involves SAS specific products and its maintenance while supporting business and application teams in their requirements of data reporting. The product includes suite of SAS GRID, Viya, Enterprise Guide, Machine Learning, Visual Analytics, etc. The individual will need to be familiar with the technology stack and be able to support the administrative tasks as well as development needs where appropriate. Working arrangements Candidates will be required to undertake all work onsite at Services Australia's Canberra office Security clearance Must be an Australian Citizen with an active Negative Vetting Level 1 Key duties may include, but are not limited to: Partner with key stakeholders and understand requirements. Understand use cases, write functional specifications, and design documentation. Analyse business requirements and design the solution framework. Ad-hoc support of various SAS installations. Assist end users / customer-facing people in investigating and resolving everyday issues. Maintain and enhance the source code and processing in the current SAS environment. Effectively communicate with team members throughout a project’s lifecycle. Timely patching of SAS and its components. Performance upkeep of SAS systems. Ensure all work is carried out and documented in accordance with agency standards, methods, and procedures to ensure information retention and re-use. Identify and discover automation possibilities for ease of administrative effort and reduction of repetitive work. Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors to ensure smooth operations and support. Primary Technologies required for role include: SAS, Unix/Linux. Secondary Technologies: Java, Python, SQL . Requirements Mandatory Criteria Five years or more experience in supporting SAS landscape. Operating System hands on experience on Unix/Linux and shell scripting (ability to develop code rather than just maintain existing). Analysis, troubleshooting and problem-solving experience. Weighted Criteria SAS Installation experience in large scale environment. Application support and maintenance. Skilled in at-least one programming language (preferably Python). Hands-on experience on Linux Platform as a Linux administrator or SAS application with Linux as underlying operating system
