Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people. Roster: Monday to Friday The business unit is looking to set up a multidisciplinary team. This advert will cover two vacancies. Both need to have familiarity or experience with the subject matter of operations research and optimisation. The focus of each role is as follows; Role 1: Focus on Programming in C#, Role 2: Focus on Mathematical Modelling and Optimisation. These two team members will report to the Principal OPM and will form part of the greater Optimisation team to provide ready to run solutions to the Development team. Key Responsibilities Responsible to Implement industry-leading Operations Research techniques to drive optimisation solutions. Develop and implement optimisation solutions and models for the Haul Truck fleet assignment engine. Responsible for the development a simulator to test the Optimisation Solution with the historical site data to assess the performance before deploying. Proficiency with Optimisation and Solver libraries in Python, Matlab, R or similar technologies like Gurobi Collaborate with the existing fleet management system team, ensuring seamless integration and interoperability with the optimisation solution. The fleet management system is in C# primarily. Work closely with Business Analysts to understand and map the impact of optimisation changes to functional requirements. This role sits within the greater Optimisation and Performance team, and some cross collaboration with the team is expected. The greater team is responsible for data modelling and performance metrics and analysis. Some of that work maybe a collaboration with the Optimisation team. Collaborate with Project Engineers to assess and enhance performance measures for Autonomy Projects related to fleet management. Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in processing, mining, integrated planning, and mine control. Qualifications and Experience Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field. 3 years of experience in real world operations research optimisation with a focus on fleet management within the Mining Industry. Strong expertise in optimisation tools and techniques. Theoretical and practical knowledge in AI Strong background in Descriptive and Inferential Statistics Experience with integration of optimisation solutions into existing systems, preferably with C#. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong problem-solving skills. Deliverables; Scientific Standard Research papers on projects being developed. Report updates on development process. Achieve agreed model accuracy levels (depending on project) Presentations on scenarios and testing results.
