As Principal Engineer (Seals Leader) your primary objective will be to provide leadership and guidance on sealing technology with the view to enhance the capability of the Department to deliver and maintain the road transport system across the state of Queensland. Your responsibilities will include: Leading and providing technical governance for bituminous sprayed seals and reseals, bituminous binders and microsurfacings, and related technologies Developing, undertaking and/or managing projects to increase technical knowledge of and levels of understanding of bituminous sprayed seals and reseals, bituminous binders and microsurfacings, and related technologies Representing the Department on relevant Austroads Technical Groups Leading and managing your team to deliver registration of suppliers/products, such as microsurfacing designs, precoating agents, adhesion agents, as well as documentation and systems related to these registrations Planning, managing and contributing to and reporting investigations into relevant road pavement failures To be successful in the role, you will possess: A four year- Washington Accord accredited Bachelor of Engineers (Civil) - or equivalent as assessed by Engineers Australia Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) accreditation. Unregistered applicants are encouraged to apply for the position, provided they are registered as an RPEQ with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland at the time of appointment Strong knowledge of road pavements and road pavement materials including unbound, and plant-mixed stabilised pavements High level interpersonal skills and the ability to form and manage relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, both internal and external Demonstrable track record of leading teams and delivery technical projects This role is offered as a PO6 and is a permanent, fulltime position based in Brisbane, Queensland with flexible working arrangements on offer.
