Structural Engineer — The Hill, Newcastle Area

GHD has a career opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join our Structures team in Northern New South Wales. Based in Newcastle, you will join a close-knit team of fellow technical directors, other engineers and technical professionals who continue to service a strong portfolio of a variety of projects in the Infrastructure and Heavy Industrial markets for a range of public and private sector clients. GHD delivers highly functional, economical, safe and optimised structures by applying well-planned construction methodology and contemporary design technology. We work collaboratively with our clients as an integrated project team to provide designs that focus on constructability, simplicity, innovation and technical excellence. This is a great opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join our expanding team. With experience in a similar role you will work on a portfolio of different projects, expanding the capability in the region and supporting the ongoing activities of a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy. This role can be appointed on either a full time or part time basis. Key responsibilities will include; Carry out a range of structural engineering consulting tasks of appropriate scope and complexity, with support as required from more Senior staff. This may include concept design development, structural analysis, detailed design, design reviews and management of design documentation. Prepare technical reports and specifications. Preparation of proposals and fee estimates for clients and structural input into large multi-discipline project proposals. Undertake site inspections to assess existing structures or to monitor construction activities against the design details and design intent. Mentor and support junior team members in undertaking the detailed design and documentation of projects. Prepare or manage design sketches and details for drafting by technical staff, and oversee the preparation of design and documentation, and coordinate designs with wider project teams, both internal and external as required, for timely and cost efficient delivery. Support the Business Group in implementing the Business Plan and Strategic Direction Responsible for routine projects in the role of Project Manager What you will bring to the role: Formal qualifications in a relevant engineering or science discipline Focus on client service Prepare a sound proposal and fee estimate for small to medium sized projects Able to self-manage work on several jobs at once and determine priorities Proactive, analytical and problem solving skills Strong team player, cooperative with other staff with open sharing of information and knowledge Interested?
