Principal Engineer - Electronics/Integration — The Rocks, Sydney

The team at QinetiQ are continuing to expand, and as such, we are now accepting applications for an experienced Principal Electronics/Integration Engineer to join our Engineering Services division, based in Sydney. As a Principal Electronics/Integration Engineer, you will be supporting our client for the integration of sensors, electronic systems and payloads into existing and upcoming Maritime Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS). This role will be integral to the success of our customer's engineering team, contributing to the design, hardware selection, integration and testing of external payloads on Maritime RAS and other advanced platforms. The Principal Electronics/Integration Engineer will report to the relevant engineering delegation and play a pivotal role in supporting future capabilities. Additional responsibilities include: Act as a subject matter expert in the field of electronics/robotics and software integration Design, architect and implement integrated systems including sensitive payloads and platforms Contribute to the design and development of solutions to integrate sensors, electronics systems and various payloads into existing and upcoming Maritime RAS Develop and influence the modification of software that run on existing and upcoming Maritime RAS Contribute to the iterative design process following system engineering methodologies under an Agile environment Conduct thorough design reviews to identify and mitigate potential risks Conduct thorough testing and validation through factory testing and real-world experiments Establish key interface documents for upcoming platform to enable future payload integration Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate electronics and software designs with mechanical, electrical, and other system components Collaborate with key stakeholders to define requirements and acceptance criteria for Verification and Validation activities To be the successful candidate, you will need to bring with you; Bachelor's Degree or Master's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience Experience and proficient in C++ and or Python software development Experience with autonomous system sensors such as sonar, LiDAR and cameras Knowledge of safety standards and certification process for autonomous systems Product lifecycle management and requirement Verification and Validation Excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail Experience with the integration of electronics systems and software to existing Maritime RAS or similar Experience with autonomous system in the air, maritime or space domain Experience working in an Agile delivery method Familiarity with systems engineering methodologies and management tool Familiarity with system integration and interdisciplinary collaboration Previous experience in Defence or Defence related industry Experience working as part of a team delivering capability outcomes to meet external priorities Experience with Defence ICT Systems and security, data storage, data distribution and data management systems, policies and processes Ability to manage competing priorities and respond to emerging customer needs Strong communication and interpersonal skills Prior experience leading and managing a professional, tertiary qualified workforce Credibility, integrity and high personal ethical standards that align with QinetiQ requirements Applicants MUST hold a minimum NV1 Australian Government Security Clearance Looking for an Employer with Benefits?
