Project Engineer — Melbourne CBD, Melbourne

About the job The Role PFM is recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer to join our Project Delivery team on the Melbourne Water contract. The role is based at the Eastern Treatment Plant in South-East Melbourne. The purpose of this role is to support the delivery of projects by coordinating the scoping, design, construction, commissioning, handover and close-out project activities: Plan, allocate and co-ordinate project tasks according to an approved program of work Assist in the review of specifications and tender documents, analyses and evaluates tenders. Ensure activities delivered are in accordance with Programmed’ Project Management Processes and HSEQ standards. Prepare progress reports and reports on project outcomes, ensuring lessons learnt are captured. Liaise with a range of stakeholders from other business units, regions, external organisations, consultants and customers. Provide technical assistance on projects execution by working closely with design consultants, contractors and suppliers in the delivery of works. Assess and approve progress claims for payment and ensure contractor performance reports on time, cost, HSE, quality and environment are completed. Inspect and coordinate individual works and/or contracts. Ensure engineering assets are constructed in accordance with the specifications. Maintain a focus on continuous review and improvement of quality processes. In consultation with HSEQ, review and monitor the implementation of HSEQ management plans, onsite Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) documentation, Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) and ensure compliance with the Construction Environment Management Framework (CEMF) and environmental approval conditions for the project. Undertake HSEQ audits on projects. Regularly inspect sites and correct all hazards raised from site inspections including safety and environmental hazards and quality non-conformances. Ensure HSEQ incident are investigated and closed out. Comply with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, corporate policy and ethical standards. Ensure all required compliance based activities are undertaken in a timely and satisfactory manner. Promote a Zero Harm culture in line with the business’ safety beliefs and empowers all employees/workplace participants to be involved in HSEQ matters. Take proactive steps to achieve Zero Harm and ensures all reasonable steps are taken to mitigate risks in all business processes and systems. Benchmarks for success Achieve or exceed HSEQ targets. Achieve or exceed People targets. Achieve or exceed Profit and Revenue as measured against budget. Delivery of accurate and timely reporting. Satisfactory completion of objectives agreed with the line manager. Skills And Experience Qualification in a related engineering discipline (Preferably mechanical or electrical background). Considerable water related professional experience. Sound knowledge of the scoping, tendering, contract award and project management processes. Demonstrated sound knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
