Beyond Design and Engineering, the team have a number of specialisations, providing design authority over a range of networking disciplines around Cloud, Network Automation and Core network architecture, leading to better technology tools and platforms to deliver better customer experiences and outcomes. Your Role As a Staff Systems Engineer focused on Firewall Automation, you will be at the forefront of designing, developing and implementing automation solutions for integrating and managing firewalls/You will collaborate closely with our Network Engineering and Security teams to create robust, scalable and secure automation tools that streamline our firewall management processes, and enhance our network security posture. To achieve this, your role will require you to: Engage with and provide consultative assistance to engineering stakeholders, including network engineers to requirement gather and understand solution requirements. Architect and develop automation tools and platforms for network firewall management. Integrate API-based solutions for efficient firewall configuration and monitoring. Ensure appropriate documentation throughout the end-to-end delivery. Ensure automation tools comply with security standards and best practices. Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for deploying automation solutions. Troubleshoot and resolve issues with automation tools and network security configurations. Document processes, configurations, and workflows related to firewall automation. Your Skills and Experiences The ideal candidate will be a tertiary degree holder in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field of study. Well versed in software development, we're interested in candidates whose careers have focused on automation, network security and DevSecOps practices. A summary of highly regarded skills for success in this role include: Knowledge of network fundamentals - TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VXLAN, VPN BGP, and OSPF. Network configuration, automation and task simplification tools (ie. Cisco Network Services Orchestrator, Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD pipeline, Python, Yang, Terraform, JSON) knowledge. Scripting languages for cloud technologies and serverless deployments (ie Python, Bash, PowerShell) essential. API development and integration expertise. Network security principles and firewall technologies (ie. Cisco, Paolo Alto, Check Point). Experience in F5 GTM, LTM and DNS VMWare NSX, and Azure/AWS network security group enforcement policies and firewall management. Cisco Switches (Nexus and IOS), Routers and Firewalls experience preferred. Clear and effective communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
