DXC.com Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Mainframe Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mainframe systems, particularly IBM's z/OS operating system. This role involves providing technical leadership in maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing z/OS environments, ensuring high availability and performance for our clients. NOTE: Location: Adelaide or East Coast (Hybrid) NV1 Clearance required Key Responsibilities: System Management: Install, configure, and maintain z/OS operating systems and related software. Performance Tuning: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations. Hardware: Co-ordinate implementation of new installations, perform installation, administration, and operation of mainframe related hardware. Problem Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues promptly to minimize downtime. Security: Implement and manage security policies to protect mainframe systems and data. Automation: Develop and maintain automation scripts to improve system efficiency and reduce manual tasks. Documentation: Create and update technical documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and best practices. Backup and Recovery: Manage backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and availability. Client Support: Provide technical support and guidance to clients, addressing their z/OS-related concerns and requirements. Upgrades and Patches: Apply system upgrades and patches as necessary to maintain system integrity and security. Compliance: Ensure systems comply with relevant regulatory and corporate standards. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience working with z/OS operating systems. Technical Skills: Proficiency in IBM z/OS system administration, SMP/E and z/OSMF. Strong knowledge of mainframe hardware and software architecture. Experience with z/OS subsystems such as JES2/3, RACF, CICS, DB2, and MQ. Familiarity with mainframe networking concepts and protocols. Scripting skills (REXX, JCL, or equivalent) for automation tasks. Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., IBM Certified System Programmer - z/OS) are a plus. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with SAS / MXG Experience supporting a SYSPLEX environment. Knowledge / experience with Hardware management (IODF / HCD) Experience with z/VM and z/Linux. Knowledge of performance monitoring tools such as OMEGAMON or RMF. Understanding of ITIL processes and practices.
