See yourself in our team The Monitoring and Event Management team is responsible for the establishment and rollout of the IT Monitoring and Event Management control. The team is comprised of three key functions: Monitoring and Event Management Control Governance Service Transition Command Centre Automation The team also works closely with our neighbouring team; the Flightdeck, who perform 24x7 operations and monitoring for the Bank's IT Services. Specifically, the Monitoring and Event Management team provide a Service Transition and automation capability for the Flightdeck. To enhance the capability of the team we are looking for a Senior Staff Specialist Engineer (Lead) who will drive the teams' initiatives and work effectively with other squads to improve our monitoring and observability practice. What does success look like? This role is responsible for leading of the development, maintenance and governance the IT Monitoring and Event Management control and oversight into the overall effectiveness of observability, monitoring, and event management, which includes but is not limited to: Development of the Monitoring, Observability & Event Management Control, Policy, Standard and Procedures; ongoing maintenance and continual improvement Creation and maintenance of Technology-specific logging, monitoring, alerting standards and patterns for various technology stacks from legacy to modern Development/codification of standardized dashboards and alert templates Reporting, compliance tracking and governance Monitoring coverage reviews and post-mortems Monitoring consultations and targeted uplifts Develop and maintain event correlation rules and logic Driving the initiatives and providing thought leadership to the more junior members of the team We're interested in hearing from people who have: Previous experience as an SME in a monitoring related domain (e.g. observability, monitoring, event management, etc) Solid experience with day-to-day technology operations with expertise in at least one technology domain Experience in a leadership role within an enterprise with demonstrated ability to influence outside of direct reporting lines Experience with monitoring tools such as SCOM, Splunk, App Dynamics, Prometheus, Grafana, SolarWinds, NetScout, ServiceNOW ITOM, etc. Sound knowledge of systems management processes Working knowledge of IT Service Management Sound understanding of operational disciplines Solid problem solving and customer service skills Sound understanding of monitoring tools and best practices If this sounds like the role for you then we would love to hear from you.
