Come and be a part of this success About the Role Our Western Australian Iron Ore (WAIO) Geotechnical team are seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join a technically motivated and results-driven team. Working within a core group, this role will ensure the delivery of quality field geotechnical assessment of rock mass supported by a strong field presence. The following skills are preferred to ensure customer satisfaction with the delivery of geotechnical assessments of Heritage sites across all of our WAIO operations: Strong interpersonal and communication skills as you will be dealing with cross-functional teams and engaging with a variety of stakeholders, Understands the importance of key geotechnical data collection in-field and applies them to ensure geotechnical assessments of heritage sites are completed to a high standard, Demonstrates a high level of safety management using the tools provided here at BHP Ability to handle physical work demands (i.e. walking along steep terrains), Provides input into the Mine Plan and ensures the timely and accurate flow of information to all customer groups through effective engagement and collaboration, Ability to identify hazards and communicate findings to the relevant stakeholders, Identify opportunities for standardisation across sites in order to increase efficiencies and accuracy, Effectively manage Improvement Projects will be a key for success in this role. About You We have a strong focus on finding individuals with the right attitude, values, leadership and communication skills. Your interpersonal skills will foster collaborative working relationships across our Mine Planning, Drill and Blast, Studies and Operational Teams. In addition to demonstrated ability to consolidate and analyse information, you will have the skills and knowledge to provide critical thinking and a solution-focused attitude. Key requirements include: Tertiary qualification in Engineering and / or Geoscience, or a related discipline. Prior experience in geotechnical engineering within the resource sector Resource industry and site based geotechnical experience Demonstrated experience in Process Improvement and Project Management involving multiple stakeholders would be advantageous Experience with slope monitoring radars and site based work Capability with geotechnical engineering software (i.e. Vulcan) Familiar with GIS software Ability to get a drone license Location With this position you will have the opportunity to work across our mine sites across WAIO. The role will be based in the Central Pilbara Hub (Mining Area C and South Flank) and based at Mulla Mulla on a fly-in fly-out roster. Frequent travel will be required to our Newman and Jimblebar operations. Working in rough terrain, the physical challenges of this opportunity will match your adventurous side and passion to work remotely. Our FIFO villages have a wide range of facilities, and all rooms have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
