About the Role The role is to exercise independent professional judgement to provide high quality advice to developers and external parties to ensure that activities undertaken by third parties, including road and bridge works and other activities on or near the road transport network, are safe and are in accordance with DTP standards, policies, and guidelines. The role also requires the provision of high quality advice to internal DTP teams within the Region and the State. To access the Position Description, Please Click here Position Accountabilities Exercise independent professional judgement to plan, implement and monitor the review of third party road and bridge work designs and provide high quality feedback to developers and their design consultants to ensure designs are in accordance with DTP standards, permit requirements and community expectations. Manage the endorsement of designs for assigned developer funded road and bridge work projects to support the issue of Consent to Work within the Road Reserve in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and toolkits to allow developers to undertake the physical construction works; Undertake research and analysis to prepare, monitor and report on the physical and financial status of projects, and develop innovative responses to improve project outcomes and project processes. Apply competence in road and bridge design, construction and maintenance practices and standards to review designs and ensure construction is carried out in accordance with DTP requirements. Exercise independent professional judgement to anticipate and assess potential project risks, undertake/coordinate complex risk assessments and develop necessary mitigation plans. Understand and hold contractors to account for technical, safety and permit requirements. Promote and support safe, inclusive and flexible team operations. The ideal candidate for this position will excel in critical thinking and problem solving, demonstrating the ability to resolve issues by interpreting guidelines and analyzing alternative ideas where guidelines are lacking. They will be adept at defining and coordinating tasks to achieve agreed outcomes, monitoring progress, and taking corrective action as needed. With accomplished business and commercial acumen, they will maximize value in business cases and contracts, leveraging a broad understanding of procurement and finance to inform decisions and manage risks effectively. They will excel in stakeholder management by adding value, fostering connections across teams, ensuring client satisfaction, and addressing stakeholder issues constructively.
