Our Software and DevSecOps Platform Engineering teams are the brains behind Australia's number one banking app the Commbank app, Netbank, Cardless Cash, Comm Sec Pocket and Spend Tracker and the tools and infrastructure they rely on. As a key mentor and member of the squad and the Engineering Manager, you'll be part of the Engineering Quality crew, looking to transform the group capability to Automated Testing and supporting the bank's Engineering Platform integration with CI/CD tools , Test Automation Frameworks as well as an escalation point for a subset of those services or capabilities .This position will see you become responsible for leading a squad of software and quality engineers and the service management for a portfolio of services. You'll play an important role in steering the organisation by contributing to the strategy and determining which problems to invest in solving. In doing so, you will bring a perfect blend of people management and technical knowledge to this team and will be responsible for shaping its evolution. The Engineering Platform team, which ensure that CommBank has a world-class engineering capability and is at the forefront of technology, using innovative and emerging technology to help our customers and support our Group strategy. We work hard to ensure best practice is discovered and nurtured, whether inside CommBank or in the broader technology ecosystem. We're interested in hearing from people who: Have a technical background across DevOps , Automation and Quality (Test Automation) and Test data management leading and supporting complex solutions - essential. Bring a strong people management focus to nurture and lead and mentor - essential. Have a thorough understanding of available DevOps tooling, such as software or tooling for the CI/CD pipeline. Proactively collaborates with others to resolve service issues and reduce operational activities by automating repetitive tasks. Have software development experience and a willingness to learn and jump into the deep-end of technical problems. Contribute to CommBank's Engineering Management Practice by coaching and mentoring engineers and raising the bar for the discipline across the organization. Effectively communicate engineering practice standards and consistent ways of working across squads and CBA that align to global best practice. Manages workforce planning and creates a safe and trusted working environment where our engineers' voices are heard. Encourages risk-taking and constructively challenges the status quo while influencing stakeholders and building diverse and inclusive teams. Have a 'you build it and you run it' mindset and continue focusing on delivering top quality services to end-users. Skills: We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don't expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team: Test Automation, testing frameworks and optimising test processes in a software environment is essential Expertise with CI/CD pipeline tooling-, GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Playwright, Cypress, Cucumber, Gherkin, Selenium , Blazemeter Overseeing the governance, compliance and operational health of services Solid experience in managing service incidents and handling escalations for critical functions or processes Proficient with modern languages such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar is a plus Familiarity with Containerisation and public cloud engineering - AWS preferred If you're already part of the Commonwealth Bank Group (including Bankwest, x15ventures), you'll need to apply through Sidekick to submit a valid application.
