How will I help? The Financial Markets Technology Team currently provides technology services in trading across FX and Debt Markets product set. This capability applies across the bank's customer base, 7 x 24 hours a day. The Financial Markets Technology team is now recruiting for a Chief Engineer to lead the existing Traded Risk technology team, with responsibly for Market Risk and Counterparty Credit risk systems and facing off to the Financial Markets and Risk businesses. This role will require managing the traded risk portfolio and team, as well as driving technology strategy in the risk space and your key responsibilities are: Delivery of the in-flight Market Risk Application Replacement project. Strategy and delivery of an ambitious program of simplification on Counterparty Credit Risk systems. Upcoming upgrades of multiple platforms. Vendor management of existing platform suppliers and partners. Driving excellence in change execution and uplifting engineering practices and delivery. Managing costs and providing dedicated leadership and workforce strategy for the existing team of approximately 60. What's in it for me? Understanding of traded risk concepts, understanding and appreciation for the quantitative and mathematical aspects of risk, familiarity with key vendors in this space. Understanding of markets, asset classes we trade and their derivatives, how they are priced, their lifecycles, language and conventions. Appreciation of markets and trading culture and demands. Deep engineering expertise and ability to drive engineering excellence. Strong track record of delivery excellence in markets and risk environments. Exceptional leadership and people skills and ability to create inclusive, diverse, cooperative and collegiate team culture across direct team, peers and stakeholders. Strong commercial acumen. Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building skills. Highly Desirable: Extensive experience in traded risk systems. Prior experience working with financial systems in Investment/Institutional Banks. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good interpersonal skills & team player. Strong business acumen for FM products and business processes, as well as technology. What is it like to work there?
