The Engineering Practices department sets and maintains the standards of engineering excellence used by all our teams across our diverse software engineering and technology department of over 400 staff. The department encompasses software architecture, agile practices and ways of working, quality processes, including "shift-left" initiatives and defensive security engineering. This role manages Practice Leads across four main disciplines of Software Architecture, Agile Delivery, Quality & Security. Each Practice is a center of excellence that drives best practice, consistency in execution and creates a continuous improvement culture across each specialty. As the Head Of Engineering Practices you'll be leading the team setting the standards that guide our delivery teams. You will enable our teams to operate effectively, secure, design and deliver systems while continuously improving Engineering Practices. This role is based out of Nine's North Sydney Office, with an expectation to be in the office at least 3 days a week. Role Responsibilities: Lead the software engineering standards function with your previous experience building, designing and developing highly available, high traffic websites & systems. Use your DevOps & Cloud experience and communication skills to drive consensus across Nine to continue building our common application delivery platform using Kubernetes in AWS. Develop and own Nine Technology standards for Engineering platforms and systems, integrating legacy platforms, current and emerging patterns and systems. Create guidelines and procedures for Nine Technology teams to ensure solutions meet agreed and required standards. Create and maintain a maturity level framework to provide consistent and structured development helping teams across Nine to continuously improve. Use your leadership skills to inspire and empower the four Practice Leads to drive change and improvement across each of their practice disciplines.
