Your next opportunity We have a career building opportunity for a self-driven and hands on Process Engineer - Systems and Automation to join our Cement division. Reporting to the Head of Process and Decarbonisation Cement, you will be responsible for driving process efficiency improvements through implementation of advanced process control systems, maintenance and fine tuning of existing systems, to ensure that the process control at Boral Cement Sites will result in safe operation, while delivering on output, quality, energy efficiency and cost reduction. Play your part in this by optimising plant performance through advancing the automation of process control and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives for the cement plant, as it undergoes transformation towards use of increased alternative fuels and decarbonisation. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity primarily based at Berrima Cement Works but will require infrequent travel to Marulan, Maldon and Geelong from time to time. Your day will involve: Ensure that the process data is available for use on any system within the Cement Works. Develop familiarity with day-to-day operations so that regular and non-regular problems are assessed and solutions prescribed are carried out. Performance monitoring through system audits and communication with process controllers. Support and manage the initiatives to improve the Process and Decarbonisation of the cement industry, plant performance on customer requirements, output and reliability of the process, variability reduction, energy efficiency, media and liners, refractory, alternative raw material and fuel use, additives, cost, safety and environment and people. Plant automation and advanced process control systems delivery including feasibility studies, design, tendering, supplier liaison and management, commissioning and ongoing development and support of the plants desire to operate the clinker and cement manufacturing process through advanced process control expert system, fuzzy logic and AI logic implementation, such that high levels of alternative fuels, output and energy efficiency can be achieved. Continuously identify customer needs, process bottlenecks, process constraints, manufacturing capability, conduct feasibility studies to convert these into opportunities and future projects. Troubleshooting PLC related plant problems and making continuous improvements to help the site teams to achieve its OEE targets. Provide process engineering technical support for critical operational improvement projects across the sites (eg Safety, Dust, Emission, Customer). What are we looking for? Chemical or Electrical Engineering qualifications Demonstrable plant or process automation and programming experience Experience in design of PLC, SCADA, and/or DCS systems and networks Prior experience in industrial automation systems, experience in processing and/or manufacturing industry ideally If you are a recent graduate with some years of experience behind you and are looking to build your career and get involved in driving systems and automation improvements on site, we encourage you to apply What's on offer?
