The Cloud Engineer plays an important role in the development and maintenance of technical solutions on the public cloud and ensures that the detailed design, build, and operations are fit for purpose. The Cloud Engineer role is accountable for detailed service designs, technical specifications, build and automation across patterns and the platform. Accountable for and the design, build, automation of AWS foundation services security, compliance and cost of AWS services and the platform. Lead the build, deployment, and operations of automated AWS enabled application environments, patterns, tools, and platforms Contribute to the continuous improvement of the AWS service by participating in project delivery Apply Lean and Design Thinking principles such as customer empathy and creative collaboration Coaching and mentoring team in delivery Customer engagement, relationship development and requirement gathering and delivery planning, scheduling and delivery Evaluate and provide expert diagnosis and resolution of complex service (cross infrastructure/application) issues to ensure effective development, maintenance and support of patterns and platform Facilitate solution design and delivery phases to ensure timely identification and resolution of design issues and decisions Accountable for effective E2E compliance, security, and pattern automation and associated best practices Provide expert input into the planning of future requirements, all aspects of capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning of specific infrastructure components to ensure the stability and availability of the cloud platform Liaise with executive and senior stakeholders (Architecture, Security and Operations) and Suppliers Contribute to effective communications with Suppliers and proactively establish the network of key technical experts Contribute to the common "one team" mindset that includes collaboration and a sense of joint responsibility between Westpac teams and suppliers Maintain focus on industry and technical trends to enable evaluation and recommend changes to the business strategy/ architecture and AWS offerings, and automation and orchestration of services Keep abreast of business strategies and developments and use this knowledge to advance the solution Apply Agile frameworks, techniques, and processes to deliver value to the business Design, build, automation of Kubernetes platform (Desirable) What's in it for me? What do I need? 5 years of experience in AWS technologies. Microservices architecture and supporting technology experience. Customer engagement, relationship development, requirements gathering and delivery planning & scheduling. Experience in AWS architecture styles, design principles, cloud design patterns, security and compliance automation, automated provisioning and deployments. Strong terraform experience Development experience in one or more scripting languages (Terraform, Bash/Shell, Ruby, JSON, Python, NodeJS, JavaScript, PHP, etc.) Experience in Agile methodologies Demonstrable ability in analysis, problem solving and troubleshooting in a AWS technologies and across multiple consumption models (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS) Relevant technical certifications in Kubernetes and AWS What's it like to work there?
