Eden Ritchie is seeking a Data Engineer with strong, proven experience in BI report development, using Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Azure development stack, SQL Server Management Studio, and Visual Studio to join a team in the Department responsible for the ongoing development, enhancement and maintenance of Power BI reporting products to users. 11 month contract with possible 12 months extension Brisbane CBD location As the Data Engineer, your key responsibilities will include: Work with the business, other team members, and vendors to understand requirements and design fit-for-purpose data models and user-focused BI visualisations and reports, using range of Microsoft programs and applications such as Power BI, Azure DevOps, SQL Server Management Studio, and Visual Studio. Work with teams in the IT Branch to ensure data solutions meet functional requirements. Work with source system teams to define data agreements to meet development requirements. Conduct data model design activities and possess extensive knowledge of data warehouse and ETL designs. Develop Quality Assurance checks to ensure data quality, integrity, and lineage across the solution. Develop Power BI data models and interactive reports. Conduct performance analysis and undertake code optimisation where required. Undertake unit and system testing of all developments. Utilise Azure DevOps for CI/CD across environment and platform deployments. Prepare, maintain and review and technical documentation and maintain the metadata repository. Actively participate in team planning sessions and proactively provide updates and communicate risk or inhibitors to progress. Experience and skills: Extensive experience in designing and delivering data warehouse solutions in Microsoft Azure; Extensive experience in data warehouse architecture, data modelling, database and ETL design; Extensive experience with solutions involving Microsoft Azure resources (e.g. Lake, Synapse), Databricks and Power BI – their individual and combined architectures; Experience in transitioning existing on-premise systems and processes to Microsoft Azure; Demonstrated strong experience in designing and developing interactive reports in Microsoft Power BI; Demonstrated extensive experience in designing and developing Microsoft Power BI interactive dashboards and reports Demonstrated ability to develop visualisation options for addressing business needs and present to the client, outlining pros and cons of each option Proactive engagement and communication approach with business and technical stakeholders and team members; Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills; Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong knowledge of Power BI report optimisation concepts for ensuring high performing reports Demonstrated experience working with the Microsoft Azure development stack and SQL Server Management Studio Demonstrated knowledge of data warehouse solutions in Microsoft Azure; Demonstrated knowledge of solutions involving Microsoft Azure resources (e.g. Lake, Synapse), Databricks and Power BI – their individual and combined architectures; Demonstrated ability to develop and adhere to a robust data and reporting testing regime Demonstrated knowledge of data warehouse architecture, data modelling, database and ETL design; Have good problem solving and critical thinking skills Proactive engagement and communication approach Active contributor to discussion with team members and other stakeholders about task/activity prioritisation Ability to self-manage and work autonomously Have strong oral and written communication skills If this role sounds like you, please APPLY NOW submitting your resume in WORD format.
