Find a career that matters and lasts As an Outage Engineer, you will provide operational power system engineering services and conduct National Electricity Market analysis. The objective is to ensure that the transmission network is operated in an economic, safe, secure, and reliable manner, while also ensuring compliance with Powerlink policy, procedures, and National Electricity Rules. Your key responsibilities include: Performing detailed power systems analysis and maintaining a library of contingency plans. Investigating and reporting on system incidents. Providing technical support to real-time operations. Managing network constraints and communicating limits advice to AEMO. Reviewing and developing operational procedures and standards. Facilitating knowledge capture and dissemination throughout the organisation. Performing power system fault level studies and maintaining operational strategies. Analysing electricity market outcomes to inform business unit decisions. Authoring IT and other system requirements for Network Operations. Designing and implementing automation schemes. The community you will join Based in Brisbane, you will join a team of high-performing operational engineering professionals dedicated to ensuring that the transmission network is operated in an economic, safe, secure, and reliable manner. You will report to the Outage Engineering Team Leader, who is part of our Operational Planning and Access team. This community is committed to excellence and collaboration, working together to maintain the highest standards in network operations and planning. Your expertise Reasonable knowledge of power system operations, able to describe power systems behaviour, secondary systems, physical transmission elements and their characteristics. Reasonable knowledge of SCADA, EMS and other power systems modelling and analysis applications. Reasonable knowledge of the National Electricity Market (NEM), National Electricity Rules (NER) and other commercial and legislative contracts that impact on Powerlink as a service provider to the NEM. Reasonable understanding of the NEM and the ability to conceptualise NEM outcomes as a consequence of transmission influence.
