This role offers a unique blend of technical challenge and strategic impact. Role Overview As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and enhancing the company’s data infrastructure. Your primary duties will involve taking ownership of the monitoring and maintenance of data systems, ensuring their reliability and performance. You will collaborate closely with the Energy Solutions Lead and other stakeholders to understand their data needs, transforming prototypes into robust data solutions. You will design, build, and maintain data products, including ETL pipelines, modelling, and transformation, using tools like Azure and Databricks. Your role will require you to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data pipelines and systems, ensuring cost-effective and efficient data processes. Implementing best practices for data management, quality, and integration will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will engage with internal teams, such as data analysts and trading analysts, to support their data requirements and contribute to strategic decision-making. Additionally, you will interact with external entities, including the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) and the corporate team in Bangkok, providing data assets and building dashboards as needed. Your proactive and innovative approach will drive performance tuning and optimisation of data processes, ensuring the company maximises its data platform’s capabilities. Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain data products, including ETL pipelines, modelling, and transformation Transform prototypes into robust data solutions Collaborate with end users and analysts to understand data requirements and design effective solutions Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data pipelines and systems Monitor and ensure the reliability, performance, and cost control of data pipelines Implement best practices for data management, quality, and integration Engage with stakeholders across the business to support their data needs Conduct performance tuning and optimisation of data processes Candidate Profile You are an experienced Data Engineer with a solid track record in designing and implementing data solutions using the Microsoft Azure stack and data integration tools such as Azure Data Factory and Logic Apps. Your expertise in Python programming and experience with big data tools like Spark set you apart as a technically proficient professional. You have at least five years of experience in your field, with a minimum of two years in a similar role, demonstrating your ability to handle complex data engineering tasks. Your strong analytical skills allow you to troubleshoot and optimise data systems effectively. You possess a keen attention to detail and a tenacious approach to problem-solving, ensuring that data processes are both reliable and efficient. You are proactive, always looking for ways to innovate and improve data solutions, and you are comfortable working autonomously as well as part of a collaborative team. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders is crucial. You understand the importance of building strong relationships with end users and analysts, ensuring their data needs are met with high-quality solutions. Your familiarity with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure, and your understanding of best practices in data management and integration, make you a valuable asset to any organisation.
