Design, build and operate the tools & processes that allow the business to operate securely & remain agile in the face of evolving threats About the role Fivecast’s software is trusted by some of the world’s largest, security-sensitive organisations to handle their open-source data collection and analysis. As part of the Information Security team you will collaborate to design, build and operate the tools, processes and procedures that allow the business to operate securely, meet our compliance obligations and remain agile in the face of evolving threats. Responsibilities Contribute to security reviews for vendor engagements, procurement efforts, or significant system changes, assessing risk, making recommendations to reduce the impact of findings, and document outcomes. Develop risk mitigation and Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms) to address the results of security audits, reviews, and scans. Monitor, assess, and contribute to the continuous improvement of security practices, ensuring alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. Identify areas for improvement and ensure the organization remains compliant and secure. Respond to internal and external security reviews by answering technical and business questions, providing evidence of compliance, and aligning with security best practices. Recommend, design, develop, implement, maintain, and operate solutions to protect the organization from threats and manage risks. Examples include, IAM, ASM, TDIR, change management, security awareness training, and data protection. Participate in incident response by investigating, containing, and mitigating threats. Support root cause analysis and remediation. Produce both technical and business documents detailing security policies, architecture standards, and compliance requirements. Contribute to the overall strategy and roadmap of the information security program by conducting gap analysis, recommending innovative and cost-effective solutions, introducing and improving processes, and driving business-wide adoption of our chosen security frameworks. Mentor and guide junior team members in a distributed, international setting, fostering a culture of continuous growth and development. Requirements Australian citizenship & NV1/Secret Defence clearance or eligibility to acquire one is mandatory Minimum 5 years of experience with Cybersecurity practices and IT Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Computer Science or Cyber Security (preferred) CISSP, CCSP, SANS or other relevant industry security-focused certifications highly regarded Strong understanding of Cybersecurity best practices and procedures Ability to demonstrate a conceptual and practical understanding of IT infrastructure designs, technologies, products, and services Ability to configure, validate, and secure complex systems Understanding of security in the context of cloud infrastructure such as AWS (Amazon Web Services) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Understanding of data challenges in Defence and national security Defence Clearance Demonstrated understanding of coding/scripting/query languages e.g. Python, SQL. Experience with managing Linux servers (considered a plus) Ability to work with stakeholders to elicit requirements and deliver results Strong organisational skills, detail oriented, and a proactive team player Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Effective communication skills Driven desire to research the current information security landscape and stay up to date with the latest trends About Fivecast Fivecast is a world-leading provider of cutting-edge digital intelligence solutions.
