Senior Engineer- Chemical Manufacturer Full Time Permanent position Salary- up to $140k Super Bonus Day Shift, Mon- Fri 8am- 5pm Relocation to Regional Victoria Must have People management experience The role Our client, a well-known food manufacturer is looking for a Senior engineer to join their team. The main objective of this role is mentoring a team of process engineers. Responsibilities: Prioritising of tasks with guidance / consultation from the Operations Manager and Processing & Optimisation Manager Align the rollout of Lean / CI principles, concepts, and tools (i.e. using the Lean / CI Framework) along with the key elements of safety, customer experience, commercial and people capabilities and development Decisive decision making in relation to project equipment, contract labour requirements and procurement Develop the required CI capability and culture within the Process Engineering Team Identify opportunities for cost reduction through the identification of inefficiencies in operations Implement assigned improvement / modification / replacement or process changes to plant and/or equipment to achieve cost reduction without impacting customer service levels and site KPIs As a member of the Site Leadership Team (SLT) collaborate on all BAU improvements, ensuring improvement projects are well planned and managed to minimise disruptions in all functional areas of the operation Deliver projects successfully - ensuring Right Scope, ROIC or other business benefits identified and achieved as expected, correct Resources to deliver, and all Risks identified and managed Demonstrate the ability to influence at all levels to achieve desired outcomes both through people and process Develop Process and Product technical knowledge within the team and broader operations This role forms part of the Site Leadership Team, but will also work autonomously to guide and manage Lean / CI within all functional teams to ensure it is core to our culture; how we think, how we behave and how we deliver value for our customers (internal & external) Assist functional leads to establish their CI initiatives and coach their teams in best practice use of the lean tools as required Stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills as the business operates via a function / business matrix structure Together with the engagement of all site teams identify / reduce waste, losses, variation to improved performance with a focus on improving our overall competitiveness Manage the implementation of the Lean Maturity Improvement Plan at the Numurkah site to drive operational excellence in our key processes and develop sustainable improvements in Safety, Environment, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People Project Manage (PM) assigned capital expenditure projects from inception to implementation and ensure these are delivered to budget and achieve agreed targets, using best practice PM methodologies Build the operational and people capability and related outcomes within the Processing Operations network through knowledge sharing, empowerment, mentoring and coaching Optimise the utilisation of the site assets with the support of the process engineers to meet and/or exceed business and project expectations Experience: Tertiary qualifications in an Engineering discipline, preferably Chemical A minimum of 10 years' experience and a proven record in an industrial or food manufacturing environment, preferably in the agri-foods processing industry Demonstrated specialist expertise in Process Engineering including unit operations, process design, process improvement, process control, and advanced analytics techniques Strong knowledge of Process Safety management requirements in a hazardous manufacturing environment Specialist expertise in Lean methodologies and Continuous Improvement approaches such as TRACC, TPS (Toyota Production System), Six Sigma or / and TPM Demonstrated experience in the use of Lean tools such as 5S, Visual Management, Standard Work, Leader Standard Work, Problem Solving, TPM, Value Stream Mapping, Process Mapping, Set Up Time Reduction, Strategy Deployment, Kaizen / Rapid Improvement Events and others Sound knowledge and practical application of all statutory and regulatory requirements as they relate to safety and environment SAP or related ERP system experience People and operations leadership experience, demonstrating strong emotional intelligence Project, CI, preventative and breakdown maintenance management Experience with control elements of PLC and SCADA systems Exceptional written, verbal communication skills as well as high level competency in IT networks, automation, and Microsoft Office High level of organisational skills and attention to detail Evidence of strategic thinking capability and influence of such within a business context Ability to work with the leadership teams as well as engage, create credibility and trust with front line teams to develop Lean / CI skills, build capability and motivation for improvement Lead and deliver daily operational improvements, working together with all departments to support daily operations (maintain the business) and (improve the business) structures and routines.
