About the role: Network Rail Consulting is currently hiring for a Lead Project Engineer with experience in European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2 (L2) to join the Digital Systems Program (DSP) with our client, Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW). Since 2018, we have been a key partner to TfNSW, bringing together technical and operational functions to deliver a ETCS L2 railway with Traffic Management Systems (TMS) for TfNSW's heavy rail network. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the development, delivery, and acceptance of the portfolio of ETCS L2 engineering systems for the program. This will involve leading the Trackside workstream for ETCS L2 and ensuring that it is integrated with the remaining ETCS sub-systems and legacy infrastructure. The successful candidate will lead the functional team to deliver system specifications, variations, design approval, interface specifications and acceptance of sub-systems. This will enable the efficient and effective delivery of operational safety and train service delivery for our client. Key Accountabilities: Work to deliver the requirements of the Digital Systems Program which meets the client and business requirements established by TfNSW. Lead the ETCS L2 Trackside works for the Digital Systems team to achieve business objectives by owning functional deliverables and interfaces that meet key project milestones and performance objectives. Lead the technical guidance for the ETCS L2 Trackside systems and be responsible for the integration of the TMS works with the other sub-systems. Lead the communication and liaison with the delivery team around technical issues to do with ETCS L2 Trackside systems. Provide expert advice and interpret the technical requirements for compliance with statute, system design, national and international standards and industry practice. Lead the technical advice for planning the implementation of the Trackside systems to support the introduction of ETCS Level 2 onto the Sydney Trains network. Provide technical expertise for the implementation of operational specifications, policies and procedures to ensure efficient, effective and safe working. Experience & Qualifications: Essential Substantial experience of working with ETCS Trackside systems on railway signalling projects. Strong background in engineering on signalling projects including leading an engineering team. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with ETCS L2. Experienced in delivering rail projects to successful completion on time and within budget. Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills. Ability to listen and communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and accurately capture, interpret, and implement agreed changes as required. Ability to manage time effectively among competing priorities and deliver to tight deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills. Excellent attention detail and report writing ability. Desirable Knowledge of one or more of the ETCS L2 sub-systems (TMS, Onboard, ATO, FTN, DTRS) or equivalent sub-systems. Working towards chartered or incorporated engineering status. Experience during the development and entry into service phase of new rail infrastructure.
